Project Summary


Located in Foshan Qiandenghu Recreation Center, Guangdong, China, Zhiyue Youcheng Square is part of a major renovation project in this historic section of the city. The CNY 60 million project consists of three distinct buildings — Passemble Hotel, with 22 floors and 200 guest rooms; Food Forum Shitongitian Plaza, with 17 floors; and Reach 100, with 19 floors for commercial and residential use. First Construction Engineering Limited Company of China Construction Third Engineering Bureau (South China) performed mechanical and electrical installations.


Installation Company completed mechanical and electrical design, procurement, and construction using an integrated BIM methodology. ProjectWise provided a collaborative design platform that enabled project data synchronization through all phases. AECOsim Building Designer enabled collision checks that eliminated hundreds of impact points. Through the BIM methodology, Installation Company promoted the close integration of design and construction processes to achieve value-added construction.


The integrated BIM process achieved objectives for project schedule, cost, and quality. Increased work efficiency and error reduction saved more than CNY 2 million, while Bentley software helped Installation Company reduce design errors by 90 percent and increase design depth by 50 percent. BIM information was transferred to the owner to facilitate operation and maintenance. A planned intelligent building management system based on the information learned from the project is expected to save RMB 1.5 million per year.


As the collaborative design platform, ProjectWise provided a multi-discipline work environment where the design intentions of relevant disciplines could be realized in real time. This allowed the design team to complete its designs efficiently, which significantly impacted the efficiency of the construction team. Using Bentley Navigator for clash detection improved design quality and reduced engineering implementation errors.
